The two specialty restaurants are Chef’s Table, with a rotating menu focused on specific cuisines, and Manfredi’s Italian Restaurant, which concentrates on Italian fare and steak. These two restaurants require reservations that can be made online via MyVikingJourney.com before your cruise begins (highly recommended) or once onboard. Those who don't do seafood will also be happy, with hot choices that change each night including pork loin, rotisserie chicken and beef bourguignon. There's also a salad bar, fruit, cheese and a great variety of desserts. Make sure to visit that back-of-ship station for hot, authentic Asian food.

On ocean and expedition voyages, The Spa and Fitness Center undergo rigorous cleaning and frequent sanitization. Rest assured that the surfaces on your ship will be cleaned and sanitized continuously with daily scheduled deep cleanings. As your trip nears, ensure you understand the travel requirements for countries along your voyage. Not a SS pkg afficianato, but I think the $$ limit on covered cocktails is $18 now (up from $15). So the pkg is not going to cover the expensive Torshavn drinks anyway.
Recap of Manfredi’s Italian Restaurant on Viking Ocean Cruises
We loved the dan dan noodles and kung pao chicken, and others raved about the pad Thai. Selections change each night, and portion sizes are small enough to give you a taste while leaving room for other options. We also were happy that spice levels can be adjusted up or down based on personal preference. Late-risers will love breakfast at Mamsen's, which is open later than other morning meal venue options. In addition to the waffles, passengers can choose from an assortment of herring, fruit, cheeses and pastries. Viking Cruises offers complimentary room service 24 hours a day on all ocean ships.
Tips for Dining & Restaurant Dress Codes
Service in the restaurant is generally excellent, with wait staff who know the menu well and are willing to make suggestions. Whether you’re gliding down the Nile River or navigating the Arctic’s uncharted waters, below are some exceptional experiences you can savor aboard Viking’s river, ocean, and expedition cruises. Thankfully, dining on the high seas has come a long way since the era of sad buffets, corny “formal night” suppers, and bland continental cuisine. To cater to the boom of people who travel with eating and drinking well in mind, cruise lines, at long last, have fittingly upped their culinary programming.
Head to Guest Services (Deck 1) if you have questions or concerns about the cruise. Also, although they won’t exchange money, they will break a large banknote into smaller denominations. This is especially handy after I withdrew money at an ATM (while off the ship) only to receive €50 bills. Once back on board, I requested smaller bills from Guest Services.
What drinks are free on Viking Cruises?
Manfredi's actually has two menus; the restaurant features one for one year, then swaps it out the next. Each passenger in Deluxe Veranda cabins and above can dine at Manfredi's at least once per cruise. Because menu and courses are set, The Chef's Table menu tends to be the least flexible of those offered on Viking Orion. Passengers with specific dietary preferences or allergies should speak with the maitre d' before booking a dinner here.
Bars are located on Aquavit Terrace (Deck 7), Explorers’ Lounge (Deck 7), the Pool Bar (Deck 7), The Living Room (Deck 1), and Torshavn, a lounge/nightclub (Deck 2). Unless the Saturn was resupplied after July 19, what they have onboard is Coke Zero. The Diet Coke afficianado in our household wouldn’t drink it. On our five other cruises with Viking they usually had Coke Light—which is the same as Diet Coke. Some folks over on the live(ish) thread I'm doing requested pictures of bar menus. We’ve so enjoyed our onboard experiences that we’re already looking forward to the next Viking cruise we booked while on the last one.

What’s your experience with the Viking drink package?
We never found we had to wait for a table, though the restaurant is busiest around 7 p.m. For our cruise, we were able to book our restaurant reservations 60 days in advance. By the time we logged into the Viking site, other higher category rooms had already booked many of the earlier, more desirable dinner times and days. We were also invited to join a group dinner on night 8, which was our last night on the ship. Onboard all Viking Ocean cruise ships, specialty dining is included with your cruise fare.
In the morning, this is where the egg station is, so diners can order omelets, eggs Benedict and other egg dishes fresh and hot. At lunch and dinner, the options vary, from pasta to Asian. Dinner is the big event at The Restaurant, and passengers are treated to a menu that includes local specialties, rotating entrees and favorites that show up every night.
An extensive room service menu is available around the clock. So, if you want to enjoy breakfast in bed, a private dinner for two on the balcony, or need some late night munchies, you can order room service at no additional costs. Dinner is a fabulous affair, especially if you're a seafood or sushi lover. The World Cafe has a beautiful display of seafood every night, with big, succulent crab legs always available (and conveniently pre-cracked to cut down on the mess factor). Other cold seafood options might include shrimp and langoustines.
See this premium wine list (prices valid to the end of 2022). There’s an additional charge for premium wine on Viking Cruises. Our second cruise was also an ocean voyage – a 10-day Caribbean cruise on the Viking Sea (from New York to San Juan, Puerto Rico). Enjoy the CT immensely, the description does not always do justice to the dish.
